In the Government’s all-important drive for growth, culture must take its proper place: as a foundational pillar of our economic success, and a key part of the solution to unlocking further productivity and growth (powered by the arts’ intrinsic value to individuals and society). If, instead, it is viewed as a costly ‘nice-to-have’, we risk undermining a cornerstone of our economic success, which would have knock-on consequences well beyond the world of culture.
