Responding to the announcement of a 20% cut in business rates bills for pubs, clubs and live music venues, Matthew Fell, Competitiveness Director at BusinessLDN, said:
“This will come as welcome relief for pubs, clubs and live music venues facing significant cost pressures but carving out further reliefs within a broken system is not a substitute for the fundamental reform of business rates that is needed
“We urge the Government to make good on its manifesto commitment to overhaul the system.
“This needs to go hand in hand with further action to boost business confidence. That includes giving London and other parts of the country the powers they need to drive local growth, easing cost pressures for housebuilders so they can deliver the homes we urgently need, and backing major infrastructure projects that create UK-wide opportunities.”
