As party conference season begins, we are gearing up for a busy few weeks that will see us attending and organising events across the country.
BusinessLDN will be running our popular London Receptions at Labour in Liverpool, Conservatives in Birmingham and Greens in Brighton. These events will bring together members, politicians and other leaders for a celebration of the city’s role as an engine for the whole UK. We will also be holding separate sponsored roundtables at Liverpool and attending Lib Dem conference in Brighton.
We began our programme at Reform UK’s conference in Birmingham last week. Members joined us for a discussion with representatives from the party in London, including their Mayoral candidate Laila Cunningham, Leader of Havering Council Keith Prince and Assembly Member Alex Wilson.
Keith shared his plans for Havering, which centred on building homes for local people – attracting businesses and job creation – particularly for those not in education, employment or training. He also highlighted plans to attract investment into a new data centre.
Laila set out her campaign priorities for the Mayoral election in 2028. She highlighted plans to tackle regulation that is holding London back. As part of this, Laila said every regulation should be reviewed in a drive to get more homes built and to create a London where people feel safer. This came off the back of Reform’s teal planning paper, which earlier this month set out the party’s plans to encourage development and reform business rates.
We look forward to welcoming members to our upcoming events in Liverpool, Birmingham and Brighton. Do get in touch if you would like us to support your activity during conference season or meet with the BusinessLDN team.
