BusinessLDN response to Transport Select Committee scrutiny of the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS)

BusinessLDN welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Transport Committee’s scrutiny of the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS). We strongly support the Government’s decision to progress Heathrow expansion, recognising its strategic importance to the UK’s international connectivity, economic growth and competitiveness. In our response, we highlight the case for designating Heathrow expansion as Critical National Growth Infrastructure, strengthening recognition of its wider economic and regional benefits, and ensuring that forecasts reflect the UK’s changing economic context. We also stress the importance of a clear and deliverable policy framework that supports private investment while ensuring expansion is compatible with environmental objectives and accompanied by improved sustainable surface access.
