As we celebrate Living Wage Week, Battersea Power Station Development Company is proud to reaffirm our status as a Living Wage Employer based in London.
We ensure that the London Living Wage, which reflects the true cost of living in our city, is paid by us and throughout our supply chain. Fair pay is central to how we do business and to the kind of community we are building at Battersea Power Station.
Paying the real London Living Wage is about more than meeting an accreditation standard; it’s about creating a fair, motivated and resilient workforce that underpins the success of this landmark regeneration project.
Paying the London Living Wage delivers tangible benefits for people, businesses and communities. Research from the Living Wage Foundation shows that accredited employers report improved motivation, retention, recruitment and reputation. We see those same benefits across Battersea Power Station — fair pay helps us attract and retain talented people, boost morale and strengthen our culture of pride and purpose.
When employees feel valued and financially secure, they are better able to focus, contribute and thrive. That has a direct impact on productivity, customer experience and, ultimately, the long-term success of the development. The London Living Wage is therefore not only the right thing to do for our team members, but also a sound investment in the quality and sustainability of Battersea Power Station.
Our commitment to the London Living Wage extends well beyond our direct employees. From the earliest stages of construction through to day-to-day operations, we have embedded Living Wage principles across our contracts, procurement processes and employer requirements.
All major contractors and subcontractors are required to pay at least the London Living Wage to anyone working on Battersea Power Station contracts. This is outlined in our tender briefs, ensuring that fair pay is built into the project from the outset.
As the estate evolves, we also encourage and, where appropriate, require our operators, across facilities management, landscaping, cleaning, and security, to do the same. And we actively monitor compliance to ensure the London Living Wage is maintained across all our areas of influence across the site.
By embedding these standards throughout our supply chain and operational model, we make fair pay a normal part of doing business at Battersea Power Station, not an optional extra.
We believe that great places are built not only on architecture and investment, but also on fairness, dignity, and opportunity for everyone who works here. As we mark Living Wage Week, we’re proud to champion the London Living Wage and invite our partners and neighbours to join us in making Battersea Power Station a truly Living Wage community.
