At BusinessLDN, we know that London’s success depends on its people – their creativity, adaptability and ambition. Last month, we hosted two events supporting our London Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP): Solving Employers’ Skills Challenges and Digital Skills for a Thriving Capital. These sessions explored how the capital can strengthen its skills base and provided valuable insights into the opportunities and responsibilities we share in creating a future-ready workforce.
At Solving Employers’ Skills Challenges, businesses from every sector shared a common concern: too many roles remain hard to fill. The discussion revealed that skills gaps are not only technical but also about alignment – ensuring that training evolves as fast as industry demands. Participants also highlighted the growing importance of communication, adaptability and problem-solving alongside digital and technical expertise, and building upon the good work of the 2023 London LSIP.
Our session hosted by BrainStation, Digital Skills for a Thriving Capital, focused on how digital transformation is reshaping every sector of London’s economy. Attendees explored priorities for the 2026 LSIP, including the need to build AI, data and cybersecurity capabilities across the workforce, and to ensure that opportunities in the digital economy are open to everyone.
Across both events, a clear message emerged: collaboration is essential. Employers, educators and policymakers must work together to build a skills system that is inclusive, agile and responsive to London’s needs.
These conversations will help shape the next phase of our LSIP, ensuring London’s workforce remains resilient and ready for the future. If you are interested in learning more about the LSIP or attending any of our upcoming consultation events, please get in touch.
