BAME Planners Network

The BAME Planners Network was founded in August 2020 in response to the issues faced by Black Asian and Minority Ethnic groups within the planning profession. The Network is a friendly platform for engagement with one another; individuals and organisations that support our aim. We believe that BAME planners are diverse, work in various sectors and represent a multicultural, multiracial society. The Network is aware of the varying levels of success that exist between different minority groups within the profession and the profound and long-lasting effect discrimination has in the workplace.

Greater London Authority

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is the democratically elected strategic authority for London. It comprises two distinct parts, the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. It was established in 2000, following a London-wide referendum to approve proposals for an elected London-wide body. 

The Mayor is the executive of the GLA, and is responsible for its core functions: transport, policing, fire and rescue, planning and housing. The London Assembly has 25 members, elected using the Additional Member system.

Planning Officers Society 

We represent around 2,000 individual planners working in 80% of the local authorities and public sector organisations around England. We can rightly style ourselves as ​“the credible voice of public sector planners in England”. Our aim is to ensure that planning makes a major contribution to achieving sustainable development in ways that are fair and equitable and achieve the social, economic and environmental aspirations of the community.

Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)

The Royal Town Planning Institute is an international professional body for town planners with over 27,000 members in 88 countries. 

We are the voice of the profession. We engage with governments, experts, advocates and international bodies to promote good planning, lead on policy development and research, and promote planning in the long-term public interest. We support our members to deliver outstanding placemaking that creates inclusive, healthy, prosperous, sustainable and happy communities.
