BusinessLDN, the capital’s leading business membership organisation, today announces that its Chair, Paul Drechsler, will step down later this year after four years in post.
Paul was first appointed Chair of London First, as BusinessLDN was formerly known, in 2018. Previously Chair of the CBI from June 2015 to June 2018, Chairman of Bibby Line Group from 2014 – 2020, and current chair of ICC UK, Paul has made the case on the key issues that have affected London businesses and the competitiveness of the capital over the last four years. More recently, he has led the charge in diversifying the BusinessLDN Board, championing the rebrand to ensure the organisation is future-fit, and in working with Chief Executive John Dickie in leading the recovery of London from the covid-19 pandemic.
BusinessLDN has begun the search for a new Chair, led by board member Mark Reynolds, Chief Executive, Mace.
John Dickie, Chief Executive of BusinessLDN, says:
“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with Paul over the past four years. He has been a tremendous asset to BusinessLDN as we have led the charge on supporting London businesses through the pandemic, and championing the city as a global beacon for investment. I would like to thank him personally for his wise counsel, particularly since I took over as Chief Executive in 2021, and on behalf of the whole organisation.”
Paul Drechsler CBE, Chair of BusinessLDN, added:
“It has been a fantastic four years, with never a dull moment. I have greatly enjoyed working with John and his incredible team of people who work tirelessly to make London the best capital city in the world to do business. While I will be sad to leave, I will continue to be a proud Londoner and I am confident that BusinessLDN will go from strength to strength.”
