Responding to current political uncertainty, John Dickie, Chief Executive of BusinessLDN, said: “The Labour Party is unsurprisingly assessing its way forward after the bruising recent elections.
“Whatever the outcome, it’s vital that the Government recommits to its central growth mission and swiftly delivers. That means fixing our economic fundamentals so that people start to feel better off.
“The Government has introduced some positive long-term reforms to boost the economy, including speeding up the planning system. Emergency measures to accelerate housebuilding in London are also a step in the right direction. But ministers now need to go further and faster to turn ambition into action. There are political challenges in delivering growth, but equally – as the local election results show – there are political challenges in failing to do so.”
