• regional growth is not a zero-sum game, and that collaboration between places delivers better outcomes than competition between them. 
• economic policy should be rooted in place, with the most effective growth strategies recognising the distinct strengths, opportunities and challenges of different places. 
• central government has a vital role to play, but regional and local government are critical to effective policymaking and implementation. Local knowledge and expertise are essential to delivering growth. Decisions made locally are more likely to be taken at speed, reflect local needs and be joined up across policy areas. 

Collaborating as the Growing Together Alliance benefits us – as business groups and all our members – by speaking with a united voice on our shared priorities. So, too, with the regional economies we represent. We are stronger when we work together.
