A new strategic partnership between the capital’s leading business campaign group, BusinessLDN, and the Metropolitan Police will strengthen collaboration between the organisations to help ensure London is a safe place to live, work and visit.
The partnership was launched at a BusinessLDN briefing last week with the Met’s Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, which covered a wide range of topics including efforts to reform the organisation, funding, the use of technology and sustainability.
The briefing, hosted by the Heart of London Business Alliance, marks the first in a series of platforms for the Met to engage directly with BusinessLDN members, including through the Central London Business Improvement Districts forum.
Sir Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Met, said: “Working closely with businesses in the capital is key to making London a safe place to live, visit and work. This new joint venture builds on our successful involvement with the London Retail Harm Reduction Partnership and will ensure we get intelligence directly from businesses about the issues facing the communities they operate in.”
Sir Kenneth Olisa, Chair of BusinessLDN, said: “A strong partnership between the business community and the police is essential for effectively preventing and tackling crime. Under Sir Mark’s leadership, the Met is undergoing vital reforms, and BusinessLDN is proud to collaborate in delivering this agenda. Together, we can ensure London remains a safe place for residents, businesses, and visitors.”
BusinessLDN made the case for a real term increase in funding for the Met in its Spending Review submission to ensure the police have sufficient resource to tackle crime in the capital.
