Roadmap provides desperately needed boost to retail and hospitality, says London First
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s announcement moving ahead with the next stage of the unlocking roadmap, John Dickie, Interim Chief Executive of London First, said:
“Businesses will be reassured that the Government is pressing ahead with the roadmap, providing a desperately needed boost to the retail and hospitality industries which have suffered from repeated closures.
“However, this was a missed opportunity to give a proper update on the social distancing review. Firms stand ready to open their offices and allow employees who wish to return to do so but need to base their decisions on up-to-date guidance. There must be a swift, transparent process on this review to give businesses confidence – because without office workers returning to the capital, many of our pubs, restaurants and shops will be unviable.
“Moving to a traffic lights system for international travel is the right move, but clarity should have been provided sooner. A transparent, risk-based system based on a combination of vaccinations, testing and isolation, is vital both for the future of the aviation industry and the UK’s Global Britain prospects.”
